Ad Astra Wine Bar & Market | 308 E Adams St, Springfield, IL
Renovating History + Building Our Future
[/vc_column]
Our Building

Ad Astra’s home is at 308 E. Adams St. in downtown Springfield, IL. The row buildings of the 300 East block of Adams St were built in 1912 and many were, unfortunately, abandoned and empty for countless years, including ours.

After years of being left to the elements, the birds, the pests, and anything else that could make it through the busted windows and holes, 308 E Adams, alongside our neighbor, 306 E Adams, were purchased by two private investors looking to preserve the history of downtown as well as become a part of its future.

Every step of the way, the building owners, designers, and contractors worked alongside Ad Astra to move forward with our shared goal: preserve the building’s history while building something new and beautiful.

The design of Ad Astra will feature restored original hardwood floors and brick walls, preserving and fixing the original tin ceilings, and several design elements throughout that are reminiscent of the era our building was first brought to life.

While we all may be biased, we truly believe our vision of preserving history and building a beautiful business has come to life in the creation of Ad Astra.

The Design
Our Bar

Ad Astra will not only have the most inclusive and intentional wine selection available, but will also have a 25 foot bar covered with marble-like stone waterfall countertops, a gold covered face, and several ADA-compliant seats for those who need.

Behind our bar a wall of glass and gold shelves will decorate the original brick and hold various liquors, supplies, and our glassware.

Enjoy as much wine and cheese as you’d like while sitting in our faux leather barstools (with backs for extra comfort!) and be sure to ask our bartenders about their favorite wines and what’s coming next at Ad Astra!

Our Market

The moment you walk into our doors you will be greeted by a 20 foot wall of wine.

Yup, that’s not a typo (ok, it is technically 19′ 4″ but who cares).

Our Market shelves will be jam packed with all of the wines you can enjoy behind the bar and so much more.

Alongside wines to-go, grab one of our local artisan made goods such as locally made pottery, glassware, décor, and self-care items. Put together a gift basket for yourself or someone else, and be sure to ask our staff about their recommendations. We’d love to help you find the best products to enjoy at home, on a picnic, or at your next event!

The Details

Riann at Resource One spent countless hours working out the details of our entire design, and we couldn’t be more excited and happy with the work she has done.

Riann worked directly with owner, Kristina Barbee, to pick out every material, paint color, and option, both focusing on high-quality products that enhance the existing beauty of the 1,700 sq foot space.

From our gorgeous golden light fixtures, to the plush velvety-smooth fabrics for our booths, to the comfy bar seating, and even custom wall paper and tile, we thought of all the details that will elevate your wine experience, and we cannot wait to share it all with you
